As I recommend using the Losing Trick Count in assessing the power of your overcall.
It makes responding very simple, you use the Losing Trick Count to decide your response!
If Partner overcalled at the ONE LEVEL they have 8 LOSERS.
If Partner overcalled at the TWO LEVEL they have 7 LOSERS.
If Partner made a TAKEOUT DOUBLE they have 7 LOSERS.
To respond to an overcall you need three cards in the suit bid
Bid your longest suit to the maximum of the LTC for a Takeout Double
You may be more adventurous if not vulnerable!
